On Sunday, July 26, 2009, a Maori ceremony of thanks paid tribute to the late John (Jack) Mahiti Wilson [December 13, 1918 - September 16, 2008] in front of the Clan Gunn tent. Members of the Maori Hapu, or kinship group, presented documents and items to the Clan Gunn chief and his family. During the ceremony, the Clan Gunn reciprocated by presenting gifts to the Maori group. All of the witnesses to the event received a small piece of jade from New Zealand.
