The 17th Annual General Meeting of the Clan Ross Association of Canada (since incorporation by Letters Patent on May 10, 1991) was held at the Highland Heights Inn, Iona, Cape Breton Island, from July 11 to 13, 2008. On December 1 of this year, our association will celebrate the 48th anniversary of the founders' meeting which established CRA-Canada as the oldest existing Clan Ross Society in the world.
During the weekend of the Clan Ross gathering, Andrew Ross Thibodeau managed to take photographs of everyone present from across Canada (including our hosts from Nova Scotia) plus six friends from the USA. Andy's initials identify his pictures.
As noted, the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Clan Ross Association of Canada will be held in 2010 in Ontario. After some discussion amongst the Ontario delegates, a gathering in the Niagara Peninsula somewhere from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Niagara Falls seemed promising, and the concept was met with excitement by others in attendance as the word got around. Numerous possibilities were enumerated, such as a winery visit with wine-tasting, the butterfly conservatory, the park's botanical gardens, the Niagara Falls, the Maid-of-the-Mist, Louis Tussaud's Waxworks, Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum, Bird Kingdom, Fallsview Casino Resort, Shaw Festival, etc. The event can be a major celebration!
